Frequently Asked Questions

We are here to serve YOU! We aim to please, so please reach out if you have any other questions.

How many tons of pellets do I need for the winter?

It depends on your home’s size, insulation, and how much you rely on your pellet stove for heat. Most New Hampshire homeowners burn 3 to 6 tons per season. We’re happy to help you estimate your usage so you can order the right amount without running out mid-season.

When is the best time to order wood pellets?

The best time is spring or summer, when supply is high, demand is lower, and you can avoid winter delivery delays. Ordering early also ensures you lock in your supply before the first frost.

How should I store my wood pellets?

Keep pellets dry, covered, and off the ground to prevent moisture damage. A garage, shed, or covered porch is ideal. If stored properly, pellets can last for years without losing quality.

Do you help with pellet stove maintenance or repairs?

We don’t service pellet stoves ourselves, but we proudly recommend trusted local pros like The Chimney Man and Lakes Region Chimney Pro for cleaning, inspections, and repairs. Regular maintenance keeps your stove safe and running efficiently.

What’s the difference between premium and bargain pellets?

Premium pellets, like Wood & Sons, have higher BTUs, lower ash, and lower moisture, which means more heat, less stove cleaning, and longer life for your stove. Bargain pellets might save you money upfront, but you’ll burn more, clean more often, and may face more stove repairs.

Do you do off-road deliveries?

We can make off-road deliveries with special arrangements! Our delivery vehicles are large and heavy, so if you need us to deliver across grass, fields, or other off-road areas, we may be able to accommodate you with a signed waiver. The waiver releases us from liability in case our vehicle gets stuck or causes any damage to your property.

We want to serve all our customers while being upfront about the risks involved—just give us a call to discuss your specific delivery needs and we'll work out the details together.
